![]() Shake your bunny tail and hop over to the Easter Bonnet Parade & Hat Contest! Come enjoy a fun-filled family friendly day of hat making, parade, Easter egg hunt and much more. This year’s event will take place at "The Park in the Park" at Petco Park located at 9th Avenue and “J” Street, the day before Easter on Saturday, March 22nd, 2008 from 11:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. Start off this bunnyfest by discovering your inner artist at our Hat-Making Workshop. In order to bring out your crafty side we are providing all the necessary materials including a variety of hats, beads, feathers and glitter. For anyone that might need a little extra pinch of creativity, nationally renowned Millinery Instructor and Hat Designer, Diana Cavagnaro, will be assisting during the workshop to make this experience more enjoyable. Once you have created your masterpiece, hop on down to the main stage for the hat judging contest and participate in a festive parade filled with fancy hats and smiling faces. ![]() In addition to the Hat Making Contest, children of all ages can expand their minds by visiting one of the many organizations providing fun, educational activities. Once again, the Gaslamp Quarter Historical Foundation is back with interesting facts about the history of the Gaslamp Quarter. After learning about the past, learn and explore marine life with professional SeaWorld educators or gain helpful instructions on childhood safety from San Diego’s finest Highway Patrol officers and much more. Also, enjoy live entertainment from local dance groups and talents. What would be an Easter celebration be without a fabulous Easter Egg Hunt? Children ages 2-12 years old can put their seeking skills to good use and search for over 8,000 hidden Easter eggs filled with enough candy to satisfy any sweet tooth during our famous Easter egg hunt! Proceeds from the event will benefit the UCSD Medical Center Hillcrest, Hematology/Oncology Department of Pediatrics Research. This unique department is working on treatments that will help children and adolescents who have leukemia, solid tumors such as neuroblastoma (the most common childhood cancer), and other forms of cancers, as well as blood disorders such as anemia, hemophilia, sickle cell disease, thalssemia and other chronic blood diseases.
