A Spectacular Showcase!

Gaslamp tips it's hat to Bonhomme the 2008 San Diego Winner of the Red Bull Air Race. He beat Mangold by the thinnest of margins for his second victory here in San Diego. We'll be holding our breath waiting to hear if and when Red Bull will bring this amazing motor sport back to San Diego. The Gaslamp Insider will be watching the races from afar as they travel the world to complete the competition.

What is the Red Bull Air Race?

This spectacular event is an international series of high speed races in the air featuring 14 pilots from all over the world.

They each navigate their aircraft through a challenging obstacle course in the sky at breakneck speeds just above San Diego Bay and the Embarcadero. There are only 10 races like this in the World – San Diego is second stop! It's like Formula 1 in the Air.

Pilots fly through a series of specially designed pylons known as “air gates” at Speeds of over 400 MPH and forces of up to 10G. It's a stunning thing to witness and makes for a great day on the bay! Gaslamp is here to welcome you before, during and after the event. Register your emial for the annual Gaslamp Insider scoop!
