Gaslamp's history dates back to the late 1800's so we should expect that a few Ghost stories have been repeated over the years. Notorious wild characters like Gunslingers, Gamblers and Prostitutes lived and died in the Gaslamp Quarter so it is very possible that their spirits live on in the dark recesses of our historic buildings. Gaslamp will execute a multitude of costume contests and parties during the Halloween season and this neighborhood can make your hair curl when we get to partying. THE HAUNTED HOTEL is the scariest attraction in Gaslamp. We Double Dare you to take this terrifying tour of one of Gaslamp's deepest and darkest basements. Tours begin in Late Sept and run throughout October. Open Tues-Sun most weeks and then nightly as the ghoulish date approaches. Look for them at 4th & Market . . if you're not too chicken!

MONSTER BASH may not technically be "INSIDE" the Gaslamp Quarter but we know you are going to stop by here first and maybe afterwards too! This fun outdoor block party and costume festival takes place right on the fringe of Gaslamp with the main gate at 7th & Market. The event hosts stages with DJ's and Live bands and is world famous for its incredible costume contest with a $3,000 CASH prize for the winner.

11th Annual Dos Equis XX Monster Bash was the biggest and baddest block party of the fall. They gave away $3,000 Cash for the one "Best Costume of the Night!!" You can only imagine how inventive people get when that kind of cash is on the line. Watch for the madness to ensue again on Saturday, October 27th, 2012, from 6:00 PM to Midnight! The fiends behind this bash are planning to shut down 8 blocks for the largest Halloween block party in Southern California. The line-up is definitely not for the faint of heart as they transform the streets of the Gaslamp into Mega Clubs including; the Dos Equis XX Fright Club, the Dead Prom Party and more. Look for Top DJs from Europe, Las Vegas, LA, and San Diego to be spinning their best stuff out in the streets! General admission tickets to San Diego’s elite Halloween party will be for sale a few months priot to the event. This deep & creepy Gaslamp Quarter basement has been drawing crowds for almost 20 years and the team are now experts in inventing a good haunting. They’re prepared to bring back another terrifying tour for you each new season. Realistic Hollywood props, seasoned actors and stunning visual effects make for a chilling tour. Not advisable for children under ten or those with heart conditions but you can be confident their actors won't grab you! They open for varied hours throughout the Halloween Season, mostly Weds thru Sun. They welcome all brave customers and will set your team up with group packages if you call in advance. They sell tickets at the local Walk-up Window but you can save time in line by purchasing your tickets online, in advance.
