Just under 1,000 guests enjoyed the 22nd Annual Taste of Gaslamp on Sunday, June 26th. Guests checked in at Pocket Park (410 Island Avenue) where they received wristbands and passports that would serve as their guide for this culinary cultural tour. Hubert’s Lemonade was on hand at check in offering free lemonade under their bright yellow pop up!

From 1PM-4PM guests for the General Admission Taste walked through the over 48 participating venues in the Gaslamp Quarter. A free shuttle service was provided by Old Town Trolley Tours and let people take a load off by making a much needed loop around the district. “This event really lets all of San Diego see that the Gaslamp Quarter is not only one of the best places to dine, but also to see art, shop and relax,” said Gaslamp Quarter Association Executive Director, Michael Trimble.

In our 22nd year, the Taste of Gaslamp expanded to include 4 galleries and 6 boutiques on the tour. “The event brought lots of people into our doors. It was our best day of sales all year!” said Reebok FitHub manager, Cornell Stanton. The other boutqiues included in the event were Bubbles Boutique, Eyes on Fifth, Tatyana Boutique, Blue Jeans & Bikinis, and Dolcetti. Guests had the option of upgrading their tickets to an ultra-exclusive VIP tour including additional food samples from 4PM-7PM, beer tastings provided by Stella Artois, Golden Road, Latitude 33, and Ballast Point, and artist receptions at the Chuck Jones Gallery, Michael J Wolf Fine Arts, Brokers Building Gallery, and Sparks Gallery. VIP ticket holders also received a “travel tote” full of Gaslamp Quarter goodies!

Pocket Park hosted The George Ferres Quartet from 4PM-7PM. The lively jazz band entertained guests as they were given a private tour of the Gaslamp Quarter Museum. Guests were also able to check to see if they won any prizes from the opportunity drawing as well as vote for the day’s Best Cuisine and Best Ambiance.

The Guest Choice Awards for the 22nd Annual Taste of Gaslamp:

  • Best Cuisine – Rustic Root – serving their Sticky Pork Belly bite and a “Moscow Mule”

  • Best Ambiance – Cafe Sevilla – serving up a tasty treat and showing off their venue with live music, and a provocative Spanish flair.

“The Taste of Gaslamp is definitely where this historic district shines, make sure to go to Gaslamp.org for future events!” said Trimble.
