Michael J. Wolf Fine Arts located on 5th Ave. between K and J streets, celebrates its 20th Anniversary this year in the Gaslamp Quarter.  This incredible gallery is dedicated to the promotion of local national and international contemporary artists like Thomas Arvid, Todd White, Stephen Holland and Luigi Rocca, to name a few.

In 1996, Michael Wolf, along with his partners, John and Kathy Collins, established the gallery in the historic Brunswick Building.  Michael began his career framing art at the age of nineteen in San Diego.  In 1986, he took a chance, moved to Hawaii and continued to expand his knowledge of art and framing.  Over the next three years, he learned and developed cutting edge framing techniques and a deeper understanding of the art world.  In 1989 he moved back to the mainland, opened a frame shop called “The Naked Wall” and in 1991 became a certified picture framer (CPF).

Feeling “unfulfilled” and wanting to take the next step, Michael moved into the Gaslamp District, which had begun  its redevelopment,  to expand from “The Naked Wall” to open a fine art gallery in 1996.

His vision has now become the oldest and most recognized gallery in the Gaslamp Quarter.  With over 25 years of experience, Michael brings his expertise and knowledge to the gallery, providing clients with insight into the process of purchasing, framing and displaying fine art.

Another colleague at the gallery along with Michael is Robyn Snowden who wears many hats!  As the sales associate, event planner, and manager for the website/ social media she keeps busy.  Robyn is an experienced photographer who has covered many events working with ABC Wide World of Sports, Monday Night Football and Monday Night Baseball in the 1980’s.

Some of her most memorable events are the 1980 Lake Placid Winter Olympics, the 1984 Los Angeles Summer Olympics, the first five Space Shuttle Landings and four years of the Academy Awards with her Best Director 1984 photograph retained in the permanent collection of the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences.  Ms. Snowden also had the distinct honor of studying with Ansel Adams before he passed away in 1984 and has a passion for the beauty of black and white photography.

Michael and Robyn make a great team, and cater to the tastes and trends of sophisticated and discerning collector’s worldwide.  They both are pleased to present high quality, affordable art in a comfortable, no pressure atmosphere!

Congratulations Michael J Wolf gallery on your 20th Anniversary here in the Gaslamp Quarter!
