Artists, Brothers, Collaborators

What’s “nice” about them? That’s a great question and one best answered by viewing their “POP art” take on classic cartoon characters created and directed by four-time Academy Award recipient, Chuck Jones. These artist brothers and collaborators bring their unique southern California spin to American popular culture. Their sunny colors, matched only by their sunny dispositions, combined with their meticulous craftsmanship makes for vibrant, animated, and evocative canvases.

The Chuck Jones Gallery, 232 Fifth Avenue, in the heart of San Diego’s historic Gaslamp Quarter, will premier Shelby and Sandy’s latest paintings along with a collection of rare Chuck Jones oil paintings and fine art prints in the brother’s first gallery exhibition on Saturday, November 12, from 5 to 8 PM. This event is free and open to the public. RSVP suggested as space is limited. 619-294-9880 or SanDiego@ChuckJones.com.

Sought out and commissioned by young Hollywood, the brothers have created works for the collections of Zac Efron, Nick Chase and Mariah Carey, Drake, Nipsy Hustle, Arsenio Hall, and Rachel Zoe, to name but a few. Their paintings grace the walls of Creative Artist Agency, Los Angeles and the Cosmopolitan Hotel in Las Vegas as well as other corporate collections.

Recently featured in Vogue Mexico, these two young brothers work in a converted warehouse space in downtown Los Angeles. Growing up in Orange County, both were encouraged by their parents to do what they love most, but do it well. Their love of creating artwork that delights the senses through unique juxtapositions of color and form—and currently influenced by a pirate motif—is so in demand that the waiting list for commissions is over five months.

“The Chuck Jones Gallery is pleased to present these talented and fascinating young artists to San Diego and around the country,” said Michael Fiacco, director of the gallery. “The unfettered pleasure their work produces in all who view it, is absolutely contagious. They really are nice.”
