Over 1,000 guests enjoyed the 23rd Annual Taste of Gaslamp last Saturday, June 17th. Foodies got their wrist bands and passports at Gaslamp Square (Fifth and L), Hubert’s Lemonade offered ice cold lemonade under their bright yellow pop up, 105.7fm played tunes and 3 of the “Rabbitville” sculptures welcomed all guests of the Gaslamp Quarter!

From 1PM-4PM guests for the General Admission Taste sampled 23 different restaurants in the Gaslamp Quarter.  VIP ticket holders were able to sample from 12:30 – 4:30 and got the VIP service with tastings from 6 additional venues including cocktails and a Gaslamp Goodie Bag.  The event culminated with an after party at Altitude Sky Lounge, where guests got to fill out a ballot for BEST CUISINE and BEST AMBIANCE, and try a taste of Firestone Walker Brewing Co’s 805 brew!

“This event is the original taste of San Diego, and everyone who participates sees that the Gaslamp Quarter is a world class dining district,” said Gaslamp Quarter Association Executive Director, Michael Trimble, who also mentioned that this event is part of the 150th celebration of Alonzo Horton’s development of New Town.  “People came from all over the US! I checked in a group who bought 46 tickets and traveled from Arizona just for this event!” said Trimble, who was overjoyed by the variety of people that got to enjoy the great culinary tour of the Gaslamp Quarter.

The merchants involved for the General Admission ticket were:

American Junkie, barleymash, Cafe Sevilla, Ciro’s Pizzeria, Don Chido, Dough, Florent, The Field, Hard Rock Cafe, Henry’s Pub, Hooters, Le Parfait Paris, The Melting Pot, My Yogurt, The Nolen, Parq Restaurant and Night Club, Quad Ale House, Rustic Root, Soleil@K, Spike Africa’s, Tin Roof, Whiskey Girl, and Garage Kitchen & Bar.  The after party was held at Altitude Sky Lounge, where all taste guests got to end their tour with a frosty beer taste of Firestone Walker’s 805 and enjoy the view!

VIP guests were given a Gaslamp Goodie Bag, got to enjoy all of the tastes above, and get a chance to have bites and cocktails from 6 additional venues:

Blue Point Coastal Cuisine, Callaway Winery, Fogo de Chao, Lionfish, Parq Restaurant and Nightclub, Rustic Root and enjoyed the after party too!

At the after party guests were able to fill out a ballot to vote for the BEST CUISINE and BEST AMBIANCE. The winners are…….drum roll please…
