The Gaslamp Quarter Pet Parade is Back!

By Annie Abrahamson

What has four legs, elf ears, angel wings, and bells? The stars of the  12th Annual  Just Food For Dogs Gaslamp Holiday Pet Parade! While San Diegans are hustling about decorating trees and purchasing gifts, their furry, feathered, and scaly friends are patiently awaiting their favorite event of the year. On Sunday, December 15 at 2pm, pets show off their finest holiday fashion while they march up and down the streets of downtown San Diego. This event is not only meant to be festive and fun, but it also draws awareness to the animals who need to be fostered or adopted. Local businesses will host patio pet rescue events throughout the day, giving spectators a chance to add another fluff to their family!

A free Holiday Pet Market will be open to the public from 12-5 p.m. featuring holiday music, presentations, an awards presentation with prizes, and more! Take a seat on the patio at one of the patios along Fifth or Fourth Avenues, and enjoy food and drink specials while watching the parade. Or register your pet, enter them into the costume contests, and join the march! ($15 with early registration, and $20 day-of. The first 350 registrants will get a WAG BAG filled with treats, toys, and coupons.) All animals who participate in the parade will be entered into 9 different  Pet Costume Contests, with 3rd, 2nd and 1st place awards going to each category!
