Theatre Box®, the Gaslamp Quarter’s new luxury theatre, dining and entertainment complex, has announced the addition of a stylish new rooftop restaurant and bar: 5th & Sky Rooftop Gardens & Lounge. Opening this weekend, 5th & Sky will offer elevated cocktails and cuisine in a lush, Japanese-style garden setting.
A tunnel adorned with roses and flowers reveals 5th & Sky, which is surrounded by stunning views of downtown San Diego and the Coronado Bridge. The 5,000-square-foot open-air bar offers a picturesque setting to dine and lounge under cherry blossom trees, around firepits and next to a one-of-a-kind hand-painted mural by famed artist Kahori Maki. A sushi bar, patio-style seating and intimate bar offer a place to relax, socialize and take in the stunning San Diego skyline.
The menu, designed for sharing, offers fresh sushi selections and signature small plates. Sushi selections include the Gaslamp Roll, filled with crab, avocado and asparagus, topped with smoked filet mignon, avocado mousse, crispy shallots and Unagi sauce; Smoker Roll, cream cheese, avocado and smoked salmon roll topped with nori, smoked unagi and toasted sesame seeds; and Gaudy Roll, nori filled with crab and cucumber, topped with ahi tuna, salmon, Hamachi and avocado. Signature small plates include smoked filet carpaccio toast, grilled levain bread topped with carpaccio, crispy capers, baby arugula, lemon zest, citrus herb aioli and shaved Manchego cheese; pork belly and yellow watermelon pops with jalapeño-maple syrup; Hawaiian Bigeye tuna poke with mango, cucumber, seaweed cracker and house shoyu sauce atop sushi rice; and more.
Over-the-top cocktails are complemented by a curated wine list and local craft beer. Signature drinks include lychee martini, a combination of Belvedere vodka, yuzu, lychee and black cherry; spicy tamarind margarita, made with Don Julio Blanco tequila, tamarind vodka and lemon with Tajín rim; Oaxacan on Sunshine, a combination of Pierde Almas mezcal, Aperol, lemon and agave; and Double Black Smash, made with whisky, orange, fresh berries and basil; among others.
5th & Sky accommodates up to 200 guests and is open Thursday through Saturday from 4 p.m. to midnight and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday. Happy hour is offered from 4 to 6 p.m. daily, with half-priced cocktails and select appetizers. 5th & Sky will also set the mood for late-night energy, offering bottle service packages and hosting various live DJs Friday and Saturday nights.
