Restaurant Spotlight: The Morning After

The Morning After, located at 531 F St., is now open, reimagining the Gaslamp Quarter’s breakfast, brunch and bar scene with whimsical dishes and drinks from early morning to late at night.

“The Morning After answers the call for a fun and social breakfast, brunch and lunch spot in the Gaslamp Quarter after a late night out, as well as to feed breakfast and bar food cravings from happy hour to late night,” said Jamie Johnson, owner of The Morning After and well-known nightlife impresario.

 

The 4,132-square-foot bistro and bar serves imaginative breakfast, brunch, lunch and bar selections. Breakfast and brunch options include Fruity Pebbles pancakes topped with mascarpone buttercream; Cinnamon Toast Crunch brioche toast with Grand Marnier icing; red velvet waffle topped with cream cheese icing and toasted pecans; bacon-wrapped asparagus with an over easy egg and balsamic drizzle; and shrimp and grits with pancetta herb gravy. Food and cocktail flights will be offered during brunch and will include French toast, waffles and pancakes; as well as mimosa, margarita and bloody mary flights.

The Morning After transitions to a sports bar in the evening, becoming part of the energetic and vibrant downtown nightlife scene in the Gaslamp. The evening menu features an array of bar bites including: several flavors of buffalo wings, sliders, mac ‘n cheese, loaded french fries and a buttermilk chicken and waffle plate, among other delicious selections.

The Morning After will accommodate guests From 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and from 7 a.m. to 3 a.m. Friday and Saturday, The Morning After will be open for breakfast and brunch-style dishes and drinks. Starting at 5 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, The Morning After will serve elevated bar fare and late-night eats.
