In the Spotlight! WASIO Photography

The 150th press conference and Gaslamp Quarter Jazz concert had 2 very talented photographers taking photos of these events. Yaneck and Sasha, who just moved from Chicago to dowtown San Diego’s Gaslamp Quarter, are a new member business called, “WASIO (VA-SHEE-OH) Photography” and “Wasio Faces” where they capture great moments and portraits through film.

Yaneck Wasiek, has been photographing for over 20 years, specializing in wedding and portrait photography for the last 5 years. Orginially from Warsaw, Poland, Yaneck’s work has been strongly influenced by European art and architecture. Sasha is Yaneck’s wife and partner,originally from the Ukraine and has been an award winning photographer as well and helps, in the operations of the new member business located in the Gaslamp Quarter.

“We met sailing on Lake Michigan 5 years ago and since then we are together all the time! Besides photography we are crazy about sailing, traveling, hiking and adventure riding our BMW motorcycles, “ said Yaneck.

Both Yaneck and Sasha live work and play in the Gaslamp Quarter. They are incredible wedding photographers, and have also started in the last few years working on headshots and portraits for their clientele.

“All of our clients are our good friends too!” Said Sasha, “we enjoy getting to know them, and feel honored that they are letting us capture their special moments!”

Yaneck and Sasha have two different businesses. “Wasio (Va-Shee-oh) Faces” focusing on portraits/ headshots, and also a sister company “WASIO Photography” which focuses on weddings engagements and bridal boudoir. Their work has won numerous online and print competition awards, including the most prestigious ones from the Wedding & Portrait Photography International (WPPI) organization.

They are equally passionate about capturing the photos as they are with printing them. Over the years they have mastered the process of Fine-Art Printing and have become master printers for Moab- “The company that makes one of the best photography papers in the world,”said Yaneck. They believe that a photograph isn’t finished until it’s printed in a fine art manner. “And in their studio/ living space are some of the most incredibly shot and printed photos I have ever seen!” Said Michael Trimble Executive Director of the Gaslamp Quarter who was able to sit in on a session and get his headshot taken.
