The Shout! House Celebrates 15 Years in the Gaslamp!

The Shout! House dueling piano bar, located at 655 Fourth Ave. in the Gaslamp Quarter, is excited to be celebrating its 15-year anniversary. To thank the community for its support, The Shout! House is hosting an anniversary party on Thursday, March 28th at 7:00pm. Guests will be treated to hosted drinks by Absolut Vodka from 7 to 9pm, a complimentary buffet, and a special anniversary show.

The Shout! House has two piano players/singers perform face-to-face at grand pianos, playing non-stop classic rock ‘n’ roll hits, today’s popular music and everything in between. The audience participation/request-driven show is the only one of its kind in San Diego, engaging music lovers in sing-alongs, roasts and on-stage interaction.

“We have stayed true to our concept and are lucky to have such a talented staff – that’s why we’re still here,” says Shout! House owner and founder Bob Walin. Walin had extensive experience in the dueling piano business having started 5 dueling piano bars for Rock Bottom Restaurants around the country including the Sing Sing which was located where The Shout! House currently resides. Bob Walin partnered with Roger Hunt and Kevin Clover (friends and performers with the Sing Sing) to open the Shout House March 24th, 2004.

“The Shout! House has a team of 8 full time piano players, most of whom have worked for the company for many years,” Walin says, “the performers understand how their music appeals to others, and they have a passion for it – it’s a fulltime career for them. They are extremely talented individuals who combine memorizing thousands of songs with great piano skill and voices. It’s fresh, fun and spontaneous every night because the audiences are different every night. This kind of multi-talented artist is hard to come by and when we find one, we take care of them.”

The sing-along concept appeals to all ages and demographics, the Shout! House is a great place to meet, mingle and have fun in a safe environment. For the players, what has changed the most over the past 15 years is the kind of music that is being requested. “There were, and still are, classic rock ‘n roll sing-along songs from the 60’s and 70’s that we still play, but today we mix that up with contemporary artists to even include rap and hip hop”, Walin said.

Next door to The Shout! House the company opened Garage Kitchen + Bar in 2014. The two-story venue is housed in the historic Carriage Works building, built in 1890. The Garage is connected to The Shout! House through a shared kitchen and bathroom hallway. The menu is freshly prepared with local and sustainable ingredients by Chef Brent Hersant.

“15 years is a great milestone for us”, Walin said, “but we’re just getting started!”

The Shout House has been voted the BEST live music venue in the Gaslamp for several years in a row. For more information, visit www.theshouthouse.com. Don’t miss their big 15th Anniversary Party March 28th at 7:00pm and see a show soon!
