Mainly Mozart Genius Weekend
For 30 years Mainly Mozart has been the festival where genius lives. With a core commitment to the exceptional, Mainly Mozart produces a boutique experience which tells the story of genius in all of its varied faces. The fourth annual Genius Weekend consists of an intense three days of concerts, lectures, and parties celebrating genius in the spirit of Mozart. In 2018 this event honors Nobel Laureate and Salk Institute CEO Elizabeth Blackburn, and celebrates “genius in unexpected places” with a focus on autism spectrum in partnership with TERI, Inc. and Autism Society of San Diego.

Exhibition: Craftwork / A Group Show
Sparks Gallery is celebrating excellence in craftsmanship in the upcoming exhibition entitled “Craftwork”. Artwork on view will include pieces in wood, metal, ceramic, and textile. Each artist in the show has been selected for their attention to detail, contemporary presentation of materials, and their residence: all are San Diego artists.

The Melting Pot – Gaslamp Quarter
Kids’ Little Chef Cooking Class
Parents, spend an afternoon at The Melting Pot cooking up some fun with your aspiring little chefs. The Little Chef Cooking Class is the perfect recipe for promoting artistic creativity among kids of all ages through a tasty hands-on experience. Kids will learn all about chocolate fondue while becoming skilled specialists in the art of dessert designing. Little chefs will also be given the appropriate attire to fondue like a pro. Take-home souvenir gear includes a kids’ size apron and chef’s hat.
The afternoon includes an interactive chocolate fondue cooking class. Kids and parents will get to make and eat their very own chocolate fondue creations! Everyone will learn to make: chocolate covered mice, celebration party marshmallows and The Melting Pot signature tuxedo covered strawberries.

San Diego Chinese Historical Museum
Asian Pacific Historic District Walking Tour
The San Diego Chinese Historical Museum and the Asian Pacific Historic Collaborative are offering a docent-led tour of San Diego’s Asian Pacific Historic District on the second Saturday of each month. Visitors will walk through the Gaslamp Quarter and Asian Pacific Historic District to see the sites of Asian Americans who populated the area beginning in the 1850’s and explore the Chinese, Japanese and Filipino districts that once filled the area. Reservations are required, and can be made by phone at (619) 338-9888 or by email at info@sdchm.org. Admission is $10, and includes museum admission.
