Balboa Theatre
This November at the Balboa Theatre in downtown San Diego, California Ballet presents Noche Latina, an evening of fire, passion, and romance with a latin flare!
The evening will feature Bizet’s Carmen and the world premiere of Jared Nelson’s interpretation of the fiery Bolero. Also on the program is the West Coast premiere of Septime Webre’s Juanita y Alicia, a dance narrative based on the choreographer’s real-life family in Cuba.
The program, Noche Latina, consists of 3 ballets; Bolero, Carmen, and Juanita y Alicia.
MUSIC: A live Cuban band will play for the ballet Juanita y Alicia.
Bolero and Carmen will be danced to recorded music.

Follow your guides back in time to hear about the Gaslamp Quarter back when it was called the “Stingaree” and was infamous for its teeming red-light district. Learn about the historic buildings and colorful characters that populated them— and perhaps even meet a few of them along the way! Along the way enjoy a drink*- or just a seat- at three historic bars that are original to the Gaslamp Quarter.
