The Gaslamp Quarter has such an amazing celebration every year, Comic con. Whether you are dressed in cosplay or not, here are some great locations outside of the convention center you can take a load off get a quick bite or sip, and view the beauty of this incredible annual popular culture convention on steroids!
#5- Brian’s 24 – 828 6th Ave. What is amazing about this great viewing spot is it is open for business 24 hours a day!! As you enjoy your food dujour at 3am you’ll probably get a chance to view Storm Troopers eating pancakes! Their food is amazing! Make sure to look into their chicken and waffles!
#4 Spike Africa’s- 411 Broadway- It’s a little walk up from the convention center, but you are probably very likely to get a seat on the patio as you gaze across to Downtown San Diego’s newest edition, Horton Plaza Park.
#3 The Quad Ale House/ Gaslamp Tavern– 868 Fifth Ave.- Being on the corner of 5th and , you get a 270° view of all CON cosplay walking by.
#2 Henry’s Pub- 618 Fifth Ave.- Grab a seat on the patio and watch the cosplay parade up fifth, as weary Conners go back to their hotels or grab a bite with their treasurers. Henry’s is also doing a Pub of Thrones each day of Comic Con With special beers from Ommegang Brewery, where you can keep the commemorative glass! There is also an iron throne perfect for photo ops, and Game of Thrones themed cocktails and bites.
#1- The Gaslamp Hilton- 401 K Street- Right next to the “New Leaf restaurant” and the outdoor portion next to the MLK Promenade, Ballast Point has signs for their great brews, Pineapple Sculpin, Mango Even Keel, and California Kolsch, they also have waters, sodas, sangria, and popsicles. After grabbing a sip you can saddle up next to a belly bar and take in the great costumes, and the Southpark 20 activation. This activation celebrates 20 years of South Park, and serves as a great location to catch Pokemon, see great costumes (we saw a hula hooping Wonder Woman) and take in the magic of Comic Con.
