All About that Baste — Thanksgiving Week has arrived in the Gaslamp

Gobble all the way to Turkey Day at these popular bars, restaurants and nightclubs.

By Annie Abrahamson

Let’s face it…sometimes the holidays in San Diego feel less than festive with all our sunshine, beaches, and beautiful weather. While the rest of the country layers up in scarves and sweaters to watch the leaves change and fall, we are still reaching for our sunglasses and enjoying happy hour on the patio. But while everyone else prepares to shovel their driveways and rake their lawns, we are putting that extra energy into some serious holiday planning. We don’t need cold weather to pull off a delicious feast or fun-filled gathering with family and friends, and we have our Gaslamp neighborhood bars, restaurants, and nightclubs to prove it!

Yesteryear, a new exhibition celebrating the release of Tim Cantor’s new collection of paintings and writings, will be held on Saturday, November 9 from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. at The Art of Tim Cantor gallery.

On this 50th year of Tim Cantor’s life, his art continues to be ever dynamic, inconsistent, and a riddle to define.  But the riddle of him is at hand; framed and painted and written in view.  More than ever, he spills open his soul, and proves that the years have not clipped his imagination.

Yesteryear is the culmination of 50 years of a perpetually maturing passion. It is the finest of art from a man of understanding, in love, who paints and writes both philosophically and from the heart, and yet never lets go of the child within, full of life and new to it all.
